The B Team fielded an array of diverse players in its opening game of the season. Senior debuts for Julian Jones, John Mather, George Mather, Ben Smallman and Rick Smallman. It took the first quarter to settle into the game, but a goal from Julian Jones set the tone for the rest of the match. We established ourselves during the second quarter, but really took control in the third, in which we ended 6 - 12 up. Tiredness then began to show, but we comfortably won the game 10 - 15 in the end. Defence gave a good solid performance, thanks to Gary Smith and Pete Driver, with Richard Noble adjusting in very nicely. Dom Smallman made some important saves to the score line in our favour. Our midfielders won and carried the ball very effectively, which meant we had more possession than Stoke during the game. Goals scored by Julian, Chris Evans and Matt Smallman ensured the win. Great start team. B is for .............Big thanks to lads from Stoke, who were gentlemen and a very hospitable team.
