Mellor girls arrived, stumbled out of their warm cars and slowly got ready to play. A few metres away Timperley Whites looked raring to go as they painted warrior stripes on their faces in Timperley colours.

The scene didn't look especially encouraging: Timperley Whites were clearly ready to play their best game, while Mellor needed a motivational talk from Coach Alex to get their heads in the game.

The first quarter saw Mellor girls make a reasonable start with some good team play and assists resulting in them notching up 6 goals (Aimee 2, Annabel 2, Harley 1, Matty 1) whilst Timperley Whites, due to some great defence from Martha, Lara, Ellie and Alice along with some fantastic saves from Olivia in net, were only able to respond with 4 goals. It was close, but a promising start for Mellor.

The second quarter began and this was definitely Timperely White's quarter with them scoring 5 goals and Mellor responding with 2 (Eve Brady 1, Annabel 1). Half time and the score was now 9-8 to Timperley.

It was a closely fought game during the second half. A motivating team talk from Alex saw Mellor girls dig deep and return to the pitch a different team for their final quarter. The second half saw Timperley score a further 2 goals with Mellor scoring 5 (Annabel 2, Harley 1, Matty 1, Katie 1). The final score was 13-11 to Mellor.
