Oxton looked organised, in control and scored regularly from settled attacks. Rare Mellor counters petered out with no shot on goal or hurried snatched chances which were going wide or being saved.
The first half ended 4-1 to Oxton.
The second half started more brightly as Emily K started to dominate the draw and the scoring was more even. With 10 minutes to go, Mellor trailed 7-4. The pendulum of momentum was now draped in red and white. Mellor were dominant and the goals started to flow.
7-5 became 7-6 and nerves started to jangle for Mellor supporters as time ticked on. Mellor U15 girls however were unfazed, totally in the groove and were scoring quickly with every possession. Once Mellor took the lead, Oxton seemed deflated and Mellor ruthlessly carried on scoring until the final whistle to complete an unbelievable comeback.
