As one of the three teams tying at the top of the league, the match against Brooklands was always going to be a tough one. It was our closest match so far this season, great to watch but very tense the whole way though.

Mellor opened the scoring with two goals by Millie, taking on an early 2-0 lead. However Brooklands quickly rallied and scored two goals - ending Q1 2:2.

Q2 started badly for Mellor with Brooklands scoring another 2 to leave Mellor trailing 4:2 behind. A well timed time-out brought back focus and more determined play and goals followed from Niamh (1) and Millie (2) to end Q2 5:4 to Mellor.

Q3 saw another comeback from Brooklands, scoring 3 more with Mellor replying with a goal from Eve and yet another from Millie - end Q3 7:7.

The final quarter saw some excellent defending from Mellor. Brooklands scored another goal but Millie put away another 3. Brooklands came back with a further goal but Mellor defended the best they ever have and kept the final score to 10-9 to Mellor.

Some excellent saves from Lola kept the Brooklands score in check.

A real team effort from Mellor with everyone playing their part. Great too to see the younger players (Erin, Evie and Elise) gaining so much in confidence.

Great game to watch if you were neutral - very tense game to watch for everyone else! Excellent lacrosse played by both teams.

Player of the match - joint between Millie-on-a-mission with her 8 goals and Niamh who was excellent in attack.
