"First League outing for the U13s"

A bright, beautiful, if a bit chilly morning greeted Mellor at Brooklands for the first league game of the season. Unfortunately, Brooklands were unable to field a full team and the game had already been declared a 12-0 win to Mellor. Despite this a friendly game had been arranged and Mellor lent players to Brooklands to even the teams at 9-a-side. (Katie M, Leia & Alice T.

The first half was all Mellor who eased to an 11-0 lead, goals from Annabel(4), Martha(2),Lucy(2), Lara, Alice W and Eve. The passing was good from Mellor with assists from Lara, Alice W, Annabel, Lucy and Martha. Despite changing Mellors loan players to Brooklands choice of: Alice W, Martha and Eve, Brooklands ended the half goalless.

The second half was a different affair as the newly selected loan players made Mellor work much harder. Brooklands managed to get 2 goals during the half while Mellor managed another 4 from Lucy M, Amelie, Lara and Olivia. Assists from Leia, Amelie, Milly and Alice W showed that the Mellor girls were moving the ball well.

Final score of 15-2.

Credit to all the girls who swapped teams without complaint to make it a competitive game and to Mellors two volunteer Goalies, Annabel and Olivia who both pulled off good saves when needed.

A good professional start to the season. Let's hope for more of the same next match.
