A pleasant sunny day for the game at Sheffield as the boys looked to build on last week. Facing a B team plus a couple of A's this was a chance for us to put into practice our recent training moves. It was a good solid start as we took a 1st qtr 3-0 lead with Drew and Ben T on target as we looked to have more cutting edge up front. This was extended to 5-0 in the 2nd qtr with Tom and Drew's third and we looked on course for a comfortable win.
However, despite our ability to play some great lacrosse at times we also have the ability to have mini collapses in games and so it proved again. With their A team face in particular giving us a real challenge in midfield we conceded 4 on the bounce as we gave him too much time and space and his powerful shots were too much for Will. From looking in charge we ended at 5-4 up. A few stern words followed and the 2nd half we managed to control the game as we won it 5-0 with a Sam hat trick of clinical finishes and nice set moves being finished off by Luke and Drew. Whilst defensively we looked more organised and limited their chances to shots that Will easily dealt with.
All in all a performance which shows we can score some great goals and open teams up when we pass the ball with purpose but too often bad habits creep in, with players wanting to beat too many and losing it or holding on and running into nowhere when a simple pass is on. Hopefully we can put it together for 60 mins next week, which we'll need to do.
Goals: Drew (4), Sam (3), Tom, Ben T and Luke (1 each). Saves: Will 10+
