This all felt a bit sluggish. The Stellor team still seemed to be getting over the half term break and it took a while for the match to feel like it was a contest.
Rochdale/Brooklands scored first but, apart from a couple of key players, they didn’t feel like much of a threat. Meanwhile Stellor looked very comfortable passing the ball around but had no penetration and not a lot of energy. Eventually however the possession paid off for the visitors and they started scoring. Ashley was particularly industrious, picking up a lot of loose balls around the ara and behind the goal.
The first quarter ended 1-2 to Stellor and at halftime it was 1-5. In the third quarter Stellor went to sleep and Rochdale/Brooklands took heart from a run of goals to close to 4-5. However a wonderful goal slammed in by Sam and a cheeky reverse shot by Drew ended any hopes the home side had of winning. The third quarter ended 4-6 and the final result was 5-8.
A solid victory and there was plenty of slick passing, however Stellor need to have a little more energy and passing speed up front to win more convincingly. A step up awaits next week and hopefully the boys will raise their game.
