Mellor won a good solid victory here without ever really getting out of second gear. There were some fine goals and some good hard running from the team. Sheffield were only able to score in the fourth quarter when Mellor let their guard down and gave away too much space to the opposition. Josh Pink, Dan Jones, Ben Tipping, Ben Hodgeson and Will Tadman bossed it in midfield and Drew Bickerton was lively up front. Josh Poke was always dangerous and scored some cracking goals. Also on the goal sheet were Ben Mochan and a fine late goal from U14 Sam Griffiths. At the back the defence were solid for three quarters and behind them Will Macdonald kept up his fine run of form. Mellor proved once again what a tough team they are to beat and what a lethal team they can be going forward. It’s almost the end of a lot of the team’s junior careers and they have brought a huge amount of success to Mellor lacrosse. They should be congratulated on winning yet another trophy and also being such an inspiration for the younger Mellor teams playing in the Flags Finals this weekend.
