This was another straightforward win for Mellor. The young Sheffield team were well drilled and passed the ball nicely, however they couldn’t cope with Mellor’s attack. Mellor moved the ball around quickly and always seemed to be faster in the last third of the pitch. Defensively Mellor were steady and didn’t get overwhelmed. In particular Ben Hodgson had a good game and Sheffield only managed to trouble Will in goal a few times. Dan Jones bossed the midfield and Joe Hussey and Josh Poke were constant menaces. As legs tired towards the end Drew found more and more space up front and was able to pop in some typical goals. Solid performances all round and some really lovely passing and finishing make Mellor a very strong team in this league. There will be tougher tests but the boys looked like a team today and they should do well this season.
