Mellor started favourites for this cup tie following their comfortable win over Stockport a month earlier. The boys started steady moving the ball round well under the instruction of the bench and had a lot of possession early on but seemed reluctant to take on the Stockport defence. A couple of quick goals from Oli & Elliot gave Mellor the lead 2-1 at the end of the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter saw Mellor stretch their legs and while Stockport defended well, Mellors dominant possession resulted in patient build up for each goal and they extended their lead to 9-2 at half time. The second half continued as the first ended with Mellor controlling the game extending their lead to 10-4 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The defence made a few over enthusiastic checks leaving Mellor a man down for large portions of the 4th quarter but Stockport didn't have the fire power to take advantage and the game ended Mellor 15 Stockport 4.
Overall a good team performance with the boys still unbeaten this season.
