The Pep Effect

Stepping into the shoes of former manager "golden balls Julian Jones" was never going to be easy. Sunshine welcomed the new under 16 manager Paul to the first game of the new season away at HMG. Debuts not only for the new manager but also for new summer signings Matt and Ethan.

Mellor opened the first quarter without a hangover from the summer break finishing the quarter with an impressive 7 goals. The second quarter brought a further 5 goals although HMG broke through the Mellor defence on what was to prove the only occasion to bring the score to 1-12 by the end of the second quarter. HMG had more composure for the third quarter limiting Mellor to 3 further goals. Huss called a time out and whatever he said clearly worked as the Mellor scored a further 8 goals in the final quarter. Final score HMG 1 Mellor 23.

At times Mellor were unplayable, strong in every area with power and pace in abundance. The season is looking good and even Pep would have been happy!
