Ex u16 player Matt Hanson offers his view of Saturdays close encounter:

"Blood,Thunder,Passion,Sweat,Tears"

Mellor vs. Poynton marked the return of a Club Legend...that being myself. Having hung my stick up a year ago, I presumed the team would be suffering from my absence. Obviously they weren't quite as good as they used to be, missing out on arguably one of the best players to play the game. But they were pretty decent- the team oozed with class, determination and an inspirational coach. Even the club legend, Jack Wallace made an appearance to the momentous occasion: "Love Lacrosse, Love Saturdays. I'm game in".

In the first quarter, the Boys weren't quite up to par, it was too casual and there wasn't enough drive or determination to win the game- they went 1-0 down due to a defensive error, quarter time couldn't come quick enough as Dan needed to have words with the lads and lift them. The whistle blew, had the lads blew there chances of winning the game?

Dan swanned over to the players, and delivered a mesmerising, inspirational speech which was jaw dropping and pumped the lads to show what they were capable of. Louis Font even whispered the words: "No more Mr Nice Guy". Fighting talk.

Mellor grabbed a Goal back, and then Jay scored making it 2-1. He had men around him, so he swallow dived and in the process put the ball in the back off the net. "He can do magical things with that stick" Echoed around the fans who watched.

After this, I'm not too sure what happened as I got lost in the electric atmosphere that buzzed around Brabins Park (The theatre of dreams) but the game ended 4-3. The final whistle blew, there was a pitch invasion. GET IN!
