Brooklands just too strong

The Mellor boys were now back to full strength, and had the privilege of having a substitute for the first time this season! However the team we were up against, showed in the their previous results, were a very good side.

From the face-off we didn't have our usual dominance, the Brooklands face-off man was too quick and his distribution of the ball was very precise. The ball movement was very impressive, the ball moving around the goal in such a quick manner. The Mellor defence was loud as usual and when the one on one dodges came they couldn't find their way past. however the off ball movement was second to none and at times was too much for the Mellor boys to handle. When the ball found its way into the Mellor attack we struggled to retain possession, throwing away the ball easily. First Quarter 4-0 brooklands

Second half began the same as the first. However we were showing much more fight and some great checks from Oli Rogerson (even without the support of his girlfriend this week) meant we were able to turnover the ball into our attack, this quarter we held the ball a bit better than the first quarter, but still not supporting the ball well enough. We couldn't take advantage of the man up situations we were given, it seemed there was a lack of desire to attack the goal. However we were holding on to the ball a lot better which is a positive and the fight was more than definitely there! 6-0 Brooklands

Again, starting the same at the face off, we were getting unlucky at times because I felt we were fighting just as hard as Brooklands. the Mellor defence was only letting slip at points and this is where brooklands took advantage. at the other end of the pitch we were getting our shot away but were unable to put them past the Brooklands keeper. The fourth quarter was very much the same again, we were looking tired but were still putting up a great fight on the ground balls. Final score 11-0

On a brighter note! the mellor boys travelled to Rochdale the day after for the 6-a-side tournament with only 6 players, the boys managed to beat Oldham, Cheadle, Stockport and Poynton, losing to Timperley in the final. A great effort from the boysand hopefully not to do with me not being there!

Lots to take from this weekend, everyone needed at training on Wednesday. Back to winning ways on Saturday!
