Our 5th game against Timperley, and with 3 losses to date, it was important to bounce back - the boys did. With some of their key players drafted into their U16s we didnt really see Timperley at their best, tougher games may well follow, but we put in a balanced and composed performance today.
9 of our goals came from George and Josh, both of whom were a constant threat in attack and, with Jamie keeping the engine ticking over, and providing 7 assists, the core of the team played well without ever really getting out of 2nd gear. It was good to see so many of the boys being able to play in different positions and this will serve us well in the final games of the season.
Always ahead this was a good day to look at the wider team. Jack L and Sam, our face off twins, both did sterling jobs today and were well supported by Jake, Toby, Eddie and Ellis when required. Finn and Jack R gave us options too with both bagging well taken goals.
Our defence still had much to do and will be disappointed to see up ship 2 goals in the final minutes but, throughout the game, Will, James S and Robbie were calm and composed in front of the ever reliable Fredrick. Although quiet for long periods of the game, Fredrick is on a really good run in goal earning today's Man Of The Match - hopefully he'll now go out and buy some shin pads!
Q1 - 3-0, Q2 6-1, Q3 10-2, Final Score 13-4
Goals - George (5), Josh (4), Jamie (2), Jack R (1), Finn (1)
Assists - Jamie (7), George (2), Jack R (1)
A big thanks to Timperley for getting the game on this morning - they'll not be too disappointed with the score line and, depending on semi finals, a potential re-match at Flags Finals would be a much closer affair! In the mean time, team donuts were the order of the day
