Mellor v Heaton Mersey
This was a game we needed to win, to restore our confidence following our narrow defeat the previous week against Timperley. With an icy wind blowing the first face off went Mellor’s way. A goal wasn’t long coming for the Mellor boys who quickly took the lead. They popped in a few more and were looking composed and in control as they ended the first quarter 5 – 0 in front.
The second quarter started much the same as the first. Theo winning the face off followed by a quick goal from George. They came thick and fast in this quarter for Mellor with the Heaton Mersey defence struggling to cope with the Mellor attack. Eddie got his first goal of the season and then bagged another ending the quarter Mellor 12, Heaton Mersey 0.
The third quarter was yet again dominated by Mellor. The plays they were putting together were sheer poetry. Sam Simms bagged his first goal of the season and yet again Mellor didn’t concede a goal with the third quarter ending with Mellor a massive 17 goals in front.
The last quarter began with Sam getting his second goal before Heaton Mersey finally put one past Fredrick. Another couple of goals from Mellor and the whistle blew on what had been a well natured game from a disciplined Heaton Mersey. The score line didn’t really reflect the game but the Mellor’s attack was on fire and Heaton Mersey struggled to break through a tough Mellor defence.
