The third game of the season and Norbury welcome Mellor to their new ground in Disley.
The weather looked changeable as the first face off took place which Mellor won comfortably.
The first goal of the game went to Mellor after a scrappy exchange in front of the Norbury goal saw Jamie scoop the ball from the ground into the back of the Norbury net.
This was followed by some good plays by Mellor with Josh scoring three in a row putting Mellor 4 in front before Norbury responded with a good goal by their number 54. George fed a great ball through to Jack Royal who put another past the Norbury goalkeeper to end the quarter 5 -1 up.
The second quarter started with Theo who was in the parents view the “man of the match”, showing again how effective he has become at facing off and winning yet another! A great move by Jamie fed Josh for yet another goal for Mellor in which looked like a set play that is fast becoming a trademark move for the boys. Number 54 scored again for Norbury but the boys managed to maintain a healthy lead to go into the 3rd quarter 7 -2 up.
The final quarter proved challenging for Mellor as Norbury picked themselves up. George and Jamie and Jake fought hard in midfield and the defence put up a good fight but this was still Norbury’s best scoring quarter getting 4 goals in fairly quick succession. Mellor responded well bagging a further 5 to end the game 15 – 7.
As usual when we play Norbury it was a good game of Lacrosse to watch, competitive and feisty with some good lacrosse played by both sides.
