Another early start for Mellor as they took up the support act slot on Day 2 of Flags Finals but the boys arrived ready for action.
Barring an early period in which we didn't settled this was a comfortable day for the boys as they slowly built up a strong goal tally but they didnt have it all their own way. Rochdale, in particular their number 12, caused us some early wobbles but Ned was assured in goal today and ably supported by his defence of Joey, Will and Alex.
We controlled this game from midfield with George, Ollie and Toby all putting in strong performances - Toby's shift to face off gave us an added edge and the ball spent much of the time within Rochdale's restrainer. Jamie bagged a hatful today but supplied some great feeds to others - notably James Peel for a wonderful finish. Josh and Jack worked hard around crease and were always in space - we didn't always use them effectively but the game quickly came under our control.
Rick and Andy made sure that Jake, Jack, James, Sam and Noah got some much needed game time and the boys eased to victory and another piece of silverware for the trophy cabinet. Credit goes to Rochdale too - their Goalkeeper kept going and made some great saves throughout the day, Number 16, young Charlotte Madeley let herself be known on more than one occasion and their impressive No 12 never stopped playing in the right way.
It was our day though and a well earned pint for Andy and Rick!
