16 H.Mersey boys and 8 Mellor boys, including one debutant, was going to be a mismatch. Great credit to Mersey for loaning us 3 boys for the morning to ensure we both had a good work out.
The game itself ebbed and flowed throughout and whilst it lacked the intensity of a cup game neither side were ducking out of the 50:50's and it was competitive throughout. Our defence was largely intact today and aided by Taylor did well for large periods against a Mersey team that possess a number of speedy and talented players. The attacking 6 included 3 Mersey and our 3, but despite not being used to each other played some really good passing lacrosse as we scored a number of well worked goals. The fact that all 3 Mellor boys got on the scoresheet was pleasing with both Eddie and Tom scoring 3 each and Oli also scoring.
The fightback from 8-4 down at the 3rd qtr to draw 8-8 in the last quarter shows the boys keep on going and never give up. As a specatcle, what could have been a non event turned into a really good game of lacrosse with both teams players no doubt gaining alot from playing the game.
Goals: Tom and Eddie (3 each), Oli and Mersey (1 each)
