Today's report will be brief!
First up - the excuse and the reality:
The excuse - We had 5 of our 12 boys missing, against an undefeated side, and so any team with that statistic would struggle.
The reality - Our midfield and defence were largely intact and many of Norbury's 16 goals came far too easily.
The boy's that played gave 100% effort and deserve great credit for that. Norbury lent us 3 players to make 10, and also managed to have 5 subs to our none, meaning that by the end our boys were running on empty and so again credit to the players for keeping going throughout, despite a few knocks in the game.
Hopefully the fact we played and didn't cry off will help us in the long run as it did enable Will to identify a number of areas where defensively the midfield and defenders need to improve both technically and as a unit. Against the lesser teams it would be less obvious but from today, and watching how Norbury defended as a unit, there was a marked difference. We face them again in about 5 weeks so we'll be able to see what progress has been made.
Goals: Sam (1) - probably goal of the match and Norbury loanees (5)
MOM: Last week I gave it to Joe. This week it was chosen by Norbury, who also gave it to Joe - well played.
