The boys give a fully committed display against a very good side.

A scoreline that doesn't reflect the display today. Effort and commitment was asked for and the boys provided that in abundance today. Playing against a team who have been the outstanding team at this level this season it was always going to be a tough ask to overcome them but we certainly knew we could give them a better game than in the 2 previous meetings.

From the off today the boys were determined to perform. Winning the face off we controlled the first 5 minutes of the game as we dominated possession and played some neat lacrosse which was just lacking the killer finish that Cheadle Hulme posess. Soon after they had the ball for the first time they showed why they score so many goals as they have players who can break fast and with one or two passes create shooting opportunities. Going 2-0 down, the question was whether our heads would drop as they have in some games. Not today though as Sam pulled 1 back with a powerful finish to end the qtr 2-1 down.

The second qtr was a similar affair to the first - lots of desire and strong defending to keep their attack at bay with the ever dependable Will making a number of very good saves. As the qtr went on CH scored 2 more before a fine solo run from Ben T, who went through their defence, before a clinical finish saw us pull back to a 4-2 half time deficit.

Maybe it was the sun today but the first half was as fully committed as we had been all season and against arguably any other team we would have found ourselves in the lead. The 3rd qtr saw CH show just why they have lost just 1 game all season as they have a couple of quality players who can stand out, in what is a very good team, to turn the game with solo efforts. For the first time we looked a bit ragged as we lost the qtr 5-0 to go 9-2 down.

The game was as good as over but we played until the end despite seeming to have numerous players off the field for fouls and in effect played a man down (2 at one stage) for most of the qtr. Another very good Sam goal left us with a 13-3 defeat. Today though it was the performance not the result that will be remembered. CH deservedly head off to Rochdale and we wish them the best whilst for us we reflect on a season which has had its ups and downs but with the smallest squad of 10 at this level we can be proud of the results we have achieved and look forward to the players developing. As always special mention to our u12s Joey and Alex as well today for toughing it out in what a times was a physical mis match against some of their players but one they didn't shirk from.

MOM - The whole 12 boys.
