Mellor U14's carried on from where they left off the week before with another 20 goal win this time over Poynton.
On a rain soaked pitch Mellor started strong taking a comfortable 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter with goals coming from almost all members of the Mellor attack and Mid-field. At the start of the 2nd quarter Poynton did show a hint of getting into the game and had a couple of big mid-fielders who could run the ball out of the Poynton half but struggled for ideas once they reached Mellors defensive zone and found it difficult to generate many goal scoring opportunities.
With the lead 16-1 at half time is was agreed to give Poynton the face off for the second half which did help Mellors defence get into the game but wasn't enough to stem the Mellor attack as the 3rd quarter ended 22-1. As the heavens opened at the start of the 4th quarter the change in weather seemed to inspire Poyton who held Mellors attack at bay drawig this quarter a goal a piece.
Final score Mellor 23 Poynton 2
Big thanks to Coach Suggy for braving the weather and inspiring the boys to another comfortable win despite suffering a self inflicted sore head!
