The U14 boys played their re-scheduled cup game against Poynton this Saturday which as far as the result went ended well.

The game started with Mellor having most of the possession and some great play throughout the team. Nick Hughes seems to have settled into his new role in defence and Ben Mochan is making his new position in attack his own. Goals from Joe Hussey, Elliot Bickerton (playing his first game since dislocating his knee in November) and Daniel Jones resulted in a 3-0 lead at the end of the first qtr.

The 2nd qtr started with Poynton having more possession but finding it difficult to find way through Mellors defence. Excellent man marking by Josh Pink & Josh Poke kept Poyntons dangerman out of the game. More goals came from Ben Mochan & Matthew Watson who was on form making some excellent assists helping towards a 6 -0 end to the first half.

The 3rd qtr began with Mellor pressing and a Poynton own goal helped to take Mellor total to 7 then the game came to an abrubt end with Daniel Pawsey going to ground clutching his leg. An awkward fall had resulted in the second dislocated knee cap for a Mellor player in 3 months. This time paramedics were onsite within 10 minutes and without any fuss had popped it back into place.

Hopefully Daniel will make a quick recovery and be back playing soon.

Thanks to Poynton for letting the score stand and the boys are now through to the semi-final.
