The Sun shines on Mellor
Mellor played host to Cheadle for the first match of December. A crisp and frosty morning saw Mellor parents and supporters well wrapped up on the touch lines to see the Mellor boys concede the first goal very early in the match, but after the second face off, they began to control the game. Will MacDonald was as consistent in goal as ever, and did a great job throughout the match.

Mellor determination began to shine through as the game went on. The quartet of Dan Jones, Josh Simpson Pink, Joe Hussey and Matt Watson started to score steadily, supported by great teamwork from the whole of the team. Hopefully the match also took Isaac Young’s mind off his toothache! With most of the possession, Mellor were 6 - 1 up at the end of the first quarter, 14 -3 ahead at half time, and had established a commanding lead of 19 – 5 with one quarter to go.

Then the sun went in, and this seemed to give Cheadle renewed energy and purpose. Cheadle scored heavily throughout this last period of the match, although Mellor’s lead meant that the result was never in doubt. A final goal from Alex Hewetson rounded off a clear win with a final score of 21 – 11.
