With a blank Saturday due to us receiving a bye in the cup, we were able to arrange a re-match against Norbury which as we all know was abandoned a fortnight ago due to Elliott's little mishap.
Like the previous few games the team seems to come out of the traps a little slowly at the moment ! Once we have played a quarter - or two - we seem to settle down and eventually get the win.
The main thing that the boys have been working on in practice recently has been ground-balls which have been nowhere near good enough in recent games. The team that wins the most ground-balls usually wins the game !
With Dan playing well in goal again and the defence playing the best they have done for a while , the foundations were in place for another win. Alex and Josh need special praise for yet again winning virtually every face-off. Up front, we had the chances but couldn't put the ball in the goal due to some very average shooting and the Norbury goalie playing a blinder. It's also worth pointing out that 2 of Norbury's goals came directly from blatant off-sides that would have been spotted by a bench official had they actually had one..........
The team has 3 very hard games before Christmas starting with Cheadle next week and we need to improve on these past 2 matches dramatically to get anything out of them !
Today's scores were - Joe Hussey 4 goals 2 assists
Dan Jones 3 goals 3 assists
Josh S-P 2 goals 1 assist
Man of the Match - R.McDonald - an outstanding display !!!!!!!!!
