With a few players missing and the U12 game cancelled Drew Bickerton and Will Macdonald joined the U14 team for this mornings game against Rochdale. With Will in goal this gave Daniel Pawsey his first game of the season playing outfield .

All started well with Joe Hussey starting confidently and scoring two quick goals in succession to give Mellor an early lead. This was followed up by a goal a piece from Daniel Jones and Josh S Pink to end the first quarter 4-0 to Mellor. The second quarter didn't quite go the same way as Rochdale came back strong even though they seemed to have a man down for most of the quarter. Scoring 4 goals to Mellor's 1the first half ended 5-4 to Mellor.

The second half continued in the same vein with Mellor's defence struggling with Rochdale's size and finding it difficult to collect the ground ball. Against the run of play a couple of goals from Daniel Jones and another from Josh S Pink gave Mellor the edge and the third quarter ended 8-7 to Mellor.

The forth quarter began and as the Rochdale fouls mounted up they eventually lost a player for the remainder of the game due to the 5 strikes rule. This should have made for an easy finish but due to some wayward Mellor shooting things stayed nervy until the final whistle with Mellor eventually taking the victory 9-7.
