Mellor bounced back from last week's defeat against Timperley with a 21-2 victory away to Ashton. Whilst Mellor did not reach the level of play they are capable of they started strongly and by the end of the first quarter were leading 7-0. Some good individual goals from Matty and Mat Watson were probably the highlight of the quarter.
By the end of the second quarter Mellor were leading 12-1. Josh Pink and Daniel Jones had an eye for goal both running strongly from midfield. The games slowed in the third quarter as Ashton tried to make a fight of it. The defence however stood firm and when Ashton did break through Dan Pawsley made the important save. Alex was clearly enjoying the physical nature of this quarter and put in a strong performance battling for any loose balls and running like a steam train through the Ashton midfield. By the end of the third quarter the score had crept up with Mellor leading 15-1.
By the final quarter Ashton were struggling with the speed of the Mellor midfield. Mellor began to pass as they can with speed and accuracy resulting in further goals for both Joe and Nick with the game finishing 21-2. Not the best performance from Mellor but a comfortable victory.
