The league record books will have this as a 1-0 victory for the boys after Cheadle conceded the game at half-time (13-3 the score). My record books will have us winning 20-11!!
Playing with a man up due to Cheadle's thin squad size, Mellor hit 5 without reply and the tone for the match was set.
Over the course of the game there were 7 different goal scorers, but a notable mention to Dima who scored 10 goals of the 20.
At half time, the game called, we used our squad size and gave Cheadle 3 players to help make more of contest. So, a thank you to Freddie B, Freddie M and Lucas who wore the Cheadle green jersey. We also sent Riley and Tom over the 14s to help them in a tight 14-14 draw with Stockport and James decided he wanted a stint in goal.
The 2nd half of the match, due to the changes made made for a closer match, but the score line continued to tick over.
Amongst the 20 goals, there was some nicely taken individual goals but from the coach's perspective there were some really good team goals.
Hard to evaluate the game and what our prospects of going far in the cup this year will be when we play teams with low numbers and make allowances so it's beneficial for all players on both sides. In patches we looked really good, then at times we looked like a team who couldn't throw or catch the ball.
This team though, turn up in high numbers and want to play Lacrosse, providing they do that each week and commit to training and the matches, the season on the whole will be a successful one.
Goal scorers: Dima x10; Spencer x3; Riley x2; Henry x2; Hugo x1; Sully x1; Ollie x1
