The u12's played out a match that was both competitive and educational, perhaps ideal for where some of the boys are within their Lacrosse journey. The end result was the 'W' but there was much more to it.
In the early parts of the 1st quarter, it was Mersey who appeared to settle into the game the quickest, but it was Mellor who opened the scoring and that seemed to settle the team down. 2-0 at the end of the 1st quarter just about a fair reflection. It was in the 2nd and 3rd quarters where Mellor really seemed to click. The score soon became 6-2 and by the end of the 3rd it was 9-3, time to make more of a match of it and we started to give Mersey some player support as their squad size was much less than the home teams. It worked, the fresher legs and the ability to rotate their players, Mersey came back into the game.
From an educational perspective there were plays and fouls from both sides that meant the boys will hopefully learn from and take into future matches.
When it's played how it's coached the team looked really good.
On a side note, some of the boys who featured today have Metros trials tomorrow, we wish them the very best of luck!
