With the main event of the weekend being the u14s semi vs Stockport, the U12s also faced Stockport away in a friendly ahead of their semi (vs Timperley at home) next Saturday.
The first quarter was reasonably close, we scored first as Jacob assisted to Dyl, Stockport equalised quickly with a long shot and then took the lead as following a good save unfortunately the Mellor keeper gave it straight back to an attacker. Josh equalised before Stockport went ahead again. Sammy came into the game and fed Noah to score, before scoring himself and we were one ahead at the first break.
With Miles moving back into midfield from defence, and taking face off, we dominated possession in the second quarter and put clear daylight between ourselves and Stockport. Nine unanswered goals were scored with Sammy getting four, Charlie three, and Dyl two as we played some good passing lacrosse and scored at will. Stockport had some younger lads playing and struggled with the onslaught. Noah had a quarter in net and made a couple of good saves and the defence cleared up at the back.
Into third quarter and John mixed the team around a bit. We scored another three from Henry, Sammy and Dyl and were up 16 - 3 with a quarter left. Credit to Stockport though, they rallied well in the last quarter and out scored Mellor, as they got three to our two, but the game had long since gone. Final score 18 - 6.
Good run out and preparation for next week’s key game.
