Away at Brooklands this week and in very cold and windy conditions. Mellor had a team of 12 and with John taking a well earned morning off, it was up to Andy Peel to lead the team. Mellor got off to a strong start, with Eddie Liles taking two in the first quarter with some accurate finishing following some good build up play. Brooklands managed to pull back one in the first quarter, which proved to be their only goal in the game despite some fine efforts on our goal across the match.
Mellor were more assured as the game progressed taking four goals in each of the remaining quarters, to finish the game 14-1. Some good performances across the entire pitch, with everyone contributing to the win. Particular mention to the Brooklands ref, giving helpful feedback to players on both teams throughout, which was much appreciated. Overall this was an extremely sporting and spirited display from a young Brooklands team who were unlucky not to come away with a few more goals, but for a strong defense and a man of the match performance by Freddie Jenkins whose shot stopping and distribution today were excellent.
It was a cold day and well done to all the boys for a good mornings lacrosse. Andy Peel had the team well organized and the boys all seemed to really enjoy the game, despite the cold.
Big game next week and on the strength of today's performance, we should do well.
