In conditions more attuned to a Glastonbury festival, a mudfest battle failed to produce much to sing about for Mellor. In fact, Noah Barlow would have been better bringing his ark, rather than his lacrosse kit.
The game started in the rain, topping up the already waterlogged pitch and our boys never really got going, against a Timperley A side who seemed more determined, and more waterproof, from the start. Apart from two well-taken goals by Finn Howie, our team were out performed at almost every level. Even with the penalty count mounting up for a sometimes too aggressive Timperley, Mellor could not take advantage of their often-numerical advantages.
The quarters ticked by with a consistent deficit (0-2, 1-4, 1-7, 2-10) and Timperley A were worthy winners. Time to dust down and rebuild for another, hopefully, drier day.
