Despite moving into a 3 nil lead the boys were pegged back to a 3 – 3 at quarter time but the early signs were good as we dominated possession.
Norbury, as ever, have strong and well organised players and, as we entered the 2nd quarter 2 early goals saw us move into a 5 – 3 lead. Ned had a strong day in goal and generally our defence had control. Stronger in the check, Norbury poses us problems and had several players capable of driving through our team. Half time – 7 – 4 to Mellor
And, as is so usual, the second period saw us really stamp our authority on the game. Our midfield to attack play was exceptional today and we scored 5 for no reply in the 3rd quarter.
With heads dropping in the Norbury team we took our foot off the gas a little in the final period but ran away with a 17 – 6 win.
With 6 separate scorers and 6 different assistors we’re really seeing the boys play as a team now. Defensively we look tight and our general fitness is obvious, especially in the latter stages of games.
We await the next wave of fixtures (and our cup opponents in a fortnight) but, for now, its promising stuff with 8 wins out of 8 and a really good goal difference. Players, coaches and parents should have travelled home happy today.
