It wasn’t the score but the way that we played that really stood out today. Obvious solid performances from our “veterans” but this was as much about our younger players.
Finn looked comfortable up front bagging a couple but creating chances for others. Ellis came close to his first goal for the club and Fredrick is settling in as game time increases. Sam made the check of the day in the closing stages. Robbie’s looking the part at the back and Luke was simply brilliant with his mazy runs to earn himself Man of the Match. Largely untroubled, Ned held firm in our goal when needed.
To the game…. We looked strong from the off and led from the start finishing the quarters 6-2, 9-3, 16-4 and 20-5 respectively. George, Jamie, Josh, Joey, Ollie P and Ollie H really took hold of the game from start to finish and Alex showed how far he has come with some great link up play.
Much to Rick and John’s credit our more experienced players were given less game time today against a physical Poynton team.
7 different goal scorers is good but more impressive that assists were coming from across the team. Keep this up boys and things will keep getting better. That’s 7 out of 7 so a well-earned rest next Saturday.
