After the warm up triangulars this was the first tough game of the season and, as ever, Stockport looked organised and strong until the latter stages.
We took an early lead as George assisted Jamie before the first in a string of saves from an excellent Stockport keeper. We fell to a soft equaliser, then another couple before George pulled back a goal.
Alex, Ned, Joey and Ollie P, being watched by the Metros Coach, all performed brilliantly today doing what was asked of them to keep us in the game. We fell behind in the 2nd quarter before Josh assisted Joey for the first of his 4 goals today. Despite being in control we fell to another goal to tail by 2 at half time.
… and the gap became bigger at the start of the 2nd half. One thing we know about our boys is that they don’t drop their heads and their superior fitness started to show. 3 more each from George and Joey with some great support coming from the Plant brothers, Jamie and Alex saw us ease to another victory.
Great to see Ned, Robbie and Toby have to work a little harder than in recent weeks and I’m sure Fredrick, Miles, Finn and Eddie are starting to see what’s needed in these tougher fixtures.
Well done boys – brilliant attitude and effort all day and a thoroughly deserved win.
