The season started with a minute applause for Heaton Mersey's A Team goalie who sadly lost his life earlier this month.

Once the games started we slowly settled in with much possession but some sloppy shots. A early disallowed goal from Joey was followed by his first before George, winning every face off, fed Jamie for Number 2. George added a 3rd before feeding Josh for Number 4 and then taking Number 5 himself.

Today though was about debuts and we were delighted with Fredrick, Finn, Eddie, Will and Ellis - all of whom settled really quickly. Fredrick nearly bagged his first of the season before Josh gave us a 6 nil half time lead.

Starting the season with short triangular fixtures allows us to settle the team and Rick and John rotated throughout the second period. A bit ragged at times we'll certainly have tougher games but another from Joey and George saw us win 8 - 0.

Ned and his defence of Alex, Toby and Jake were largely untroubled although Alex showed just how important he will be this month with his mazy runs forward - these earned him the Man Of the Match
