This was a return to form by a team that’s lost its way a bit in recent weeks. The short passing game returned, we stretched their defence and focussed on what made us so strong at the start of the season – passing.
With a bit more discipline back, our defence did the basics right, setting themselves up properly to set our midfield and attack into action – a much better game to watch around. With more than 60% of possession the boys dominated for long periods with 30 plus shots on goal although Cheadle, as ever, have some very good players and may have been missing a few today. They were well organised and, in their No 17 and 20, had a real go at us today.
Next week’s sees us head into the 1st round of the Onondaga Cup at Timperley as we set out to retain it for the 3rd year in a row – good luck boys – play like this and you’ll go a long way in this year’s competition. Some stand out performance today from Oliver Plant who played with real aggression in midfield but today’s Man Of The Match goes to Joey Bissell – rock solid in defence and strong coming forward – your best performance to date this season.
