Under 12's continue unbeaten run with a strong win at Stockport

A swift first goal by Stockport woke our boys early driving them from their usual slow start into a quick succession of goal attempts, firstly by Tom and then Ollie. The third struck the back of the net, Tom assisting Sam to drive our first goal in. That goal set the scene for the first quarter with Mellor's possession at 83% for the first quarter pushing in two more goals from Tom and Sam. The attack push from Mellor was tight and focussed with some great passing and six other goal attempts. A couple of attempts to drive onto our territory during the quarter - Ned keeping one attempt out of our goal. Stockport nearly came back with one just as the quarter whistle went, but called offside, the quarter ended 3-1 to Mellor.

Our boys came out stronger still on the second quarter to drove the score to 10-2, with goals from Ollie, George, Tom and Sam. The quarter saw Stockport's goalie hold out two other well targeted attempts. Our boys were on fire, alert to Mark's calls as coach for the game and keeping their positions tight on the field of play.

After half time, Stockport pushed back with three goals and watered down our possession to 72%. Not phased, our boys pushed in another four, increasing our lead. The torrential rain mid quarter failed to dampen spirits as George slammed a goal to the back of the net, ably assisted by Jack. Other goals in the quarter from Tom and Joe with a great attempt by Sam intercepted by Stockport's goalie.

The last quarter summed up the previous three - great discipline sustained by the boys drove in another six goals which would have been nine has it not been for the quick wits of Stockport's goalie. And Stockport's goal in the quarter would have been partnered without Ned's intervention.

A final score of 20-6 was well deserved and a reward for the discipline, positioning, unselfish play and accurate passing by our boys who were clearly not phased by the periods of driving rain. Five goals for Sam and Tom and one each for Ollie, Joe and Jack. Our top goal scorer, George.

A great result!- Massive congratulations to the boys at a rainy Stockport. Brilliant team performance against a team that will run us close this season. With goals across the team and a disciplined performance in midfield this was another team effort to continue our unbeaten start to the season.

Despite missing some players, no doubt the same for Stockport, Mellor nosed ahead early and never looked back. Have a well earned week off boys and a special thanks to Ollie Robinson for a referring so well today
