Mellor produced a dominant performance against a relatively inexperienced Brooklands team. The passing and movement of the midfield and attack was just too strong for the opposition and Mellor seemed to be able to score at will as the more experienced players on the team were able to create lots of chances and finish them off with ease. Brooklands battled hard and pulled 2 goals back late in the first half as Mellor took a 10-2 half time lead. The 2nd half was a bit scrappy in patches and while Mellor were the better team there were moments when the midfield fell asleep and left the defence and Ned exposed, which other teams no doubt would have punished with goals. A good performance overall, a few sloppy moments but for the new boys to the team another match to gain valuable experience.
