The morning started with sleet and snow, not the best start, then to find out that no keepers were available and most of the more experienced players were unavailable as well, a tough choice had to be made. Ben Tipping volunteered with out hesitation to fill in as keeper but it gave a Rick a tricky decision to make.
The game started with Ben T in goal, the usual suspects in defence and a younger look the the midfield and attack positions. Both teams seamed quite evenly matched with no immediate stand out players but as the quarter progressed both sides grew in confidence with mellor taking the lead. The game continued to be a scrappy game with ground balls being difficault to gather up and a lot fouls conceded by mellor made it difficult for the lads to stamp any kind of command on the game. The game progressed goal by goal for each side until the forth quarter when mellor managed a bit of daylight between the score. The game finished mellor 6. Brooklands 4.

This week after a chat with rick and Fred I have awarded 'men of the match' to both Ben Tipping and Jamie Mochan. Ben for his willingness to go in goal and for the 15 saves he made. Also jamie who grew in strength and confidence throughout the game and was rewarded by scoring 2 goals.
