Right from the start they dominated the midfield winning most of the possession. However, Brooklands didn't make life easy for Mellor and at times the game became a little scrappy with the ball on the ground a little too often.
The game developed a steady pattern with Mellor creating a lot of chances but not converting as many as perhaps they could have, though credit to Brooklands goalie who played very well making 28 saves. It certainly highlighted the importance of shooting on the ground.
Mellor scored consistently throughout the game, 1st quarter 4-0, 2nd 4-0, 3rd 3-0 and 4th 4-0, winning the match 15-0.
A lot of credit must go to a well organised defence who denied Brooklands the opportunity to test Will in goal, only 2 shots on target which Will dealt with comfortably.
Congratulations to Max Muir and Martin Benford playing in their first match. Both played really well, Max winning the ground ball on several occasions and using it to good effect as did Martin who scored his first goal.
Goal scorers: Drew Bickerton and Joe Hussey 3 each, Josh Poke, Sam Griffiths and Nick Hughes 2 each and 1 each for Ben Tipping, Tom Brady and Martin Benfold.
