We fielded a small select team for the Girls U11 tournament at Bramhall High School on Sunday. A team of 6 was available (in a 7 a side tournament) so we didn't let that stop us! With no obvious goalie, the girls drew lots for the dubious honour of donning the goalie kit. Alice stepped up to the mark and did a super job! We won our first match v Timperley 2-1 with superb goals from sisters Millie and Olivia.
Our second match saw a 0-0 draw v Cheadle. The girls worked brilliantly as a team showing off our impressive defending skills.
By the time we played our 3rd back to back match our players were noticiably tiring (despite the gingerbread men sugar injection). A valiant performance meant that we lost our only match to Norbury 3-1. A lovely little goal from Eve.
We won our next match v Heaton Mersey 1-0 and saved the best til last winning our final match 3-0 v Brooklands. Eve and Leia providing the goals for this match.
Special mention must go to Olivia and Amelie who defended the goal in the last 3 matches.
It was a pleasure to watch this little team. They worked well together and were determined to win. All players played all matches, as we had no subs. Their skill and determination meant that they came joint 1ST in the tournament with Norbury. Proud parents, proud coach, proud manager.
Big thanks go to Emily Baythorpe who coached them throughout and to Lydia Griffiths who umpired all our matches.
