Heaton Mersey kicked off in earnest with an attempt at goal within the first minute stopped by a fantastic save by the Mellor goalie (Olivia H). Heaton Mersey continued to put the pressure on and followed up with two goals in quick succession. Undeterred, Mellor countered with a storming run down the pitch and shot on goal by Milly D. Heaton Mersey saved it and ran the ball back into Mellor's half. They were unlucky, hitting the post. Again Mellor fought back with Eve B making a fantastic break down the pitch, passing to Leia Y who made another shot on goal. This was saved again and followed by Heaton Mersey making two unsuccessful attempts at the Mellor goal - again saved by Olivia H. Despite valiant defending by Alice T and Katie M, Heaton Mersey scored two more goals in the first half leaving Mellor trailing 4-0. Mellor's break came in the second half with Jasmine R scoring from a penalty. The Heaton Mersey onslaught continued, but was slowed by great checks by Milly D and Leia Y, and Katie M cleared the ball from the circle in the last few seconds of the game to deny Heaton Mersey a final strike.
