An improved performance against opposition of a more comparable level saw Mellor pick up their first point of the under 19 campaign. Against a defence that pressed out and looked to force turnovers Mellor struggled to retain the ball but still managed to create numerous goal scoring chances however a combination of good saves and the Mellor boys thinking they scored points for hitting the keeper meant they were limited to 5 goals. In defence the Longhurst Lane club stood up strong to a good Steelers' attack and will take confidence from only conceding 5, especially with novice long pole Jab stepping up to the plate and putting in a good performance.
Both teams exchanged goals throughout with neither one able to edge far enough ahead to secure a victory. Special mention must go to Dan Watson who clearly had his pre-match Weetabix recording an impressive 3 take outs (not that he was counting), this did make a change from watching Dan spend his game on the floor having been taken out.
If the boys in white bring their shooting sticks to the next game then the first victory should be around the corner! On a more disappointing note *spoiler alert* Judy Murray went out of strictly so there is now no longer any point watching the show so please all make an effort to make the next game (parents as well) as there is most definitely nothing else anyone would rather be doing on a wet, cold Sunday evening than watching lacrosse in Timperley!!
Goals: Dan (I got 3 takeouts) Watson, Jake P, Tom "Rabil" Wright, Will Rambo, Jake Hutch
Next game: November 30th v Wilmslow 7.45 face. Meet 7.15.
